a post I made in __therevolution. If you agree with anything I have said, look over the community and join it.

A Stagnant Movement.

Last time I checked, you couldn’t buy instant revolutions at the grocery store. It takes a little more work than an unorganized livejournal to change the minds of people. The present state of this ‘movement’ is stagnant, not because no one cares, but because we don’t care enough.

I’m not even sure what the objective of this group is supposed to be. Are we looking for a bond between local females, are we looking for a bond between all of us, are we wanting girls to keep their legs closed and guys to keep their dicks in their pants, are we looking for sexual equality, are we looking to sit around livejournal pretending that a revolution will start itself, are we even sure of what we are looking for? The first step should be to clarify and solidify the objectives of the community, and secondly, make sure the community exists outside of livejournal. I also think the name typifies the attitude around here, too much ego and not enough action.

I would assume that the ambiguous objective is something along the lines of, wanting to stop the mistreatment of females by males. I would love to further it into stopping the mistreatment of people by people. There should be no typical male and I shouldn’t have to fight in order to prove my sex. I shouldn’t have to fight in order to speak my mind. There should be no typical female. You shouldn’t be expected to put out. There should be no expectations based upon whether your birth certificate reads male or female.

One point that needs to be more clearly discussed, is the right we have to not have sex or to take part in sex, without this effecting us socially. While females should have the right to say no to sex, while not worrying about the social repercussions, they should also have the right to have sex with whom they choose and as often as they choose. If anything needs to be advocated, it should be words and phrases like ‘safe sex’, ‘STD testing’, ‘birth control’, etc. rather than ‘you slut’, ‘whore’, ‘skank’…

The real problem I have, is when a male will lie and deceive to his greatest ability in order to convince a female into having sex with him, and the gullibility of the female is some how to blame rather than the fabrications and illusions created by the male. I understand that this isn’t specifically a male vs. female issue, but my word choice is based upon the situations I see rather than possibility. The gullibility will be there, the weakness in people will be there, there will always be something to exploit, and this doesn’t make exploitation right. People want to find truth in things they want to hear, they want love and they want social status, they want people to look up to them. But rather the capitalizing on this for our own good or social gain, we should reevaluate our methods of love and adoration, and reanalyze how we hand out status.

We hand out status for masculinity, for beauty and fashion. Those who can tear down as many people as they can get rewarded for their actions while the victims get persecuted and ignored. Location and how socially acceptable the music we listen to is, holds precedence over the views we have and the way we treat others. There isn’t much room to grow in a city of inflated egos. Hands need to be extended. Thoughts need to be expressed and rebutted and refined and re-expressed.

This is more than man vs. woman, Sarasota vs. Bradenton, new vs. old, etc. We need to understand how starting bash journals, journals posting nudes of local girls, rating communities that are based upon looks is digress rather than progress. Judging people based on the city they live in, of what sex they belong to, or of what sexual orientation they choose, is destructive to the progress we strive for. If you even take part in any of this, you are antagonizing the direction of this community.

People want to believe that they will get respect without giving it, people want to believe in silly things like instant revolutions, they want to believe in arches and columns made up of unorganized ideas. We need to work in order to move even the slightest obstacle out of our way and we must have a solid platform before we can even think of standing up. I am willing to do whatever it takes to take even the smallest step forward. We need leaders before we can march, so leaders come forth.

I’ll write more later.

P.S. “We must never stop watching the sky with our hands in our pockets, stop peering in windows when we know doors are shut. Stop yelling small stories and bad jokes and sorrows, and my voice will scratch to yell many more.”
