[Two weeks into her life in Mayfield, Hanako has still barely managed to adjust. The environment is no more familiar than it was when she first woke up here, and the atmosphere at home is stifling. Turkey is kind to her- she feels fortunate to have gotten someone like him as a 'father', as much as the word itself causes a sick feeling in her gut- but the 'mother' there, with her constant hovering, has her staying away from the house as much as possible. She's been spending most of her time in the Mayfield Public Library, skipping school on most days to show up at dawn and only leaving once the sky is black with night.

But Hanako is no exception to having to go to school to keep from being droned- something she's grown quite frightened of from seeing it happen to others- and she's diligent in showing up every third day. She can be found doing a variety of things:

( A ) At Mayfield High, sitting in the very, very back of her 11th grade classroom, her head down and a pencil squeezed so tightly in her fist her knuckles have gone white. She pays close attention to the teacher and takes as many notes as possible, but it looks like she's dying for the opportunity to leave.

At one point, she stands up from her chair swiftly, and it clatters to the floor. Without a word, she runs out of the classroom. Anyone want to follow her?

( B ) In the hallways of Mayfield High after school. It's just let out, and she's at her locker, shuffling her books inside and fumbling with quivering hands to close her lock. Once she's done that, she looks around at the empty hallway and then does something a little strange.

Hanako looks at the tiles on the floor and begins hopping over them, stepping on one and then another, looking as if she's following some sort of pattern. She becomes absorbed in this, the ghost of a tiny smile on her face, and doesn't seem to have noticed that she may not be alone any more.

( C ) In the General Store, where the vegetables are kept, clutching her basket close to her chest. She examines one bundle of broccoli and then another, not knowing what to choose. She wants to make dinner for Turkey to thank him for being so kind to her, but she's not a very experienced cook.

She turns to go look for carrots, but at that exact moment smacks right into your character. Hanako stumbles to the ground, her basket spilling everywhere, and she quickly begins stammering out apologies.]

I-I-! I'm sorry! [She begins trying to pick things up, shaking, and she hasn't noticed that her hair has fallen away from her face, where it normally conceals severe burning on the right side of it. As soon as she realizes that her burns are exposed, she puts a hand over that side of her face, as if fearful of the idea of anyone seeing.

( D ) Struggling to carry home both her groceries and a tower of books from the Mayfield Public Library. This certainly would be easier if she knew how to drive.]
