Saturday was a slow day, Alex and I spent a lot of it with Libby as my back was still bothering me. I got most of the cook for the evening dinner done while Alex was asleep, then the last bit done while he played with Simon. We got him to bed then at 7 the retired MD of the NNR railway arrived with his friend and their wives. We had a lovely evening, including a trip upstairs for the wives who spent 30 minutes amusing Alex, who amazingly went straight to sleep after they'd gone downstairs. One of them did comment that if 2 strange ladies had gone into her grandson's bedroom after he was in bed he would have freaked, but after Daddy had done the introductions all we could hear was laughter and giggles!
They were very impressed with dinner, I did spicy carrot soup, beef and Stilton stew with dauphinoise potatoes, and spiced rhubarb crumble cake. It was a lovely evening and they left at 10, very civilised!
On Sunday Simon's parents eventually turned up, and took Alex off for a while and he was very happy in their company. Good thing really as its not long till I am in Greece. Its a great excuse to ignore your inlaws, making sure is settled alone with them!
Today we've been watching the crowds form and the platforms fill as lots of people crowded onto our platform to watch the "Torch bearer" pass with the Olympic flame on board. We did see the current runner leaning out the window carrying an unlit torch and a miners lamp with the flame in it. Alex waved his flag and the RAF from Fylingdales offered us a private tour soon. It was a lovely atmosphere.
That is about as stirred about the Olympics as I will get.
We then went in to Pickering on the train to put a lot of money into various banks and get some keys cut to replace locks broken in the break in. We spent a little time in Park Street catching up with staff, then back to the station, more left overs for dinners (I may have made far too much dauphinoise!).
Alex went to bed in the car, and didn't actually go to sleep until we got home at 8, so I think he'll still get up at 6:30!
The back is much better, but not helped by my periods starting early due to the pelvic manipulation, 'cos I needed period cramps on top of this. Its just stiff now, but it still hurts if I do too much or lift Alex. It should continue to improve steadily, fingers crossed!
