(no subject)
Alex is now officially sleeping in a big bed! He stayed in there until fetched and took his nap in there even though he was convinced he didn't need one, even after spending most of the morning running round naked after Niamh and playing in the paddling pool. It was lovely to see them, have a catch up and a distraction. Sinjy bought as fish and chips at lunch time as I was too thrown to be organised. The afternoon was a bit of a mad run round after Alex woke up. I packed a bit, then headed off to Halfords to get the balance bike for his birthday. I spotted a big pile of the same bikes for £5 cheaper then the advertised price, and when I enquired why was told because they'd been mislabelled, but as I'd spotted it I could have one for that price. The staff member then took down and ripped up the sign!
David and Stephen arrived eventually, had a quick beer and went to bed.
On Friday morning Alex was stood waiting for me in his door way, obviously not quite sure if he should be out of bed! We took the train down, had an hour in Regent's park, then travelled onwards. David and Stephen picked us up from Headcorn station 15 minutes after we arrived, but they had been driving pretty much non stop. We got the thatched barn we rented and it was beautiful, even if half the doorways are under 5'! Alex likes it, hes the only one who doesn't have to duck.
Today we've been to TWERPS, the Spa Valley Railway, and had a train ride and a leisurely lunch. They had heard about Bob's death, but luckily did not ask too many questions. I had a real stand off with Alex about doing something he'd been told not to, but I won eventually, and the argument about eating his dinner or not getting any pudding. Its been a fun day on the toddler front! After the SVR we headed to Bayham Abbey while the boys went to the Lavender line. Alex likes the space and all the hiding holes, and the tree growing out of and in the wall behind the high alter makes for a stunning setting.
Tomorrow will probably bring more railways. Tonight I must move the chair so Alex can't climb out of bed!
