Yesterday morning was spent in the Booking Office, as it was the first day of the 175 years of the Whitby to Pickering railway Gala. We had a signal man who is fairly incompetent with ticket selling, so I thought I really ought to be in there! It was fairly quiet, so I am now well ahead on the monthly ticket books, exciting huh? I left Alex to play with Granny.
Alex has spent the last 2 days on and off foot plates racking up more locos. Micheal did beat him onto the Duke Of Gloucester, even though he doesn't have photographic proof and we do! We also managed to get him on Sir Nigel Gresley as hes not been on that yet, and he managed to charm a chocolate hobnob out of Beth! Senile Tony managed to get lost on the trains yesterday which caused a bit of consternation, but he was were he was supposed to be by the end of the day. Several of us caught the shuttle behind Joem to Pickering and straight back. We took out lunch with us, and as we were in compartments both time Alex enjoyed being allowed to crawl around on the train.
I fed 8 in the evening, it was amusing watching Clive trying to catch Sarah's eye. I don't think he stands a chance but he definitely has a thing for her. Still, the attention will do her good.
Today has been a bit bitty. I seem to have been running round and not getting much done. I did manage to make chili and a rather good lemon meringue pie from scratch while Alex slept.
Alex did have a good time 'gardening' with Granny, or poking soil with a stick to you and me. He managed to hang on to the stick and poke Phillip Benham, the General Manager, as well as several others, in the afternoon. That boy should be unable to still look so cute that nobody minds when he pokes them. Its probably the big happy smile that does it! He also managed to cadge the last 2/3 of Simon's ice cream again, which he can eat surprisingly cleanly.
We were expecting Planet in the evening, but the trains where running so late it was past time for Alex's bath and we couldn't wait. However, he came out just in time and managed to get on the footplate before Micheal. Yes! I'm amazed hes asleep with so much excitement after his bath. Even the General Manager got a shot of him on Planet's foot plate, its definitely a baby sized engine. Alex has now racked up 23 engines, and he isn't 11 months old yet!
