It's no secret graphic novels are one of my favorite mediums. In fact, maybe my #1 favorite medium. Shh. Don't tell plain old text books. I can't do them myself because they take so darn long, but I LOVE art and pictures together, when done well ( Read more... )

Ooh, I have that one in my TBR pile!

She does seem to speak from a very loving place. And what a life that woman has had!

Me too...I did one full comic issue once and oh my. Even that was a lot of work. I think comics are for people who only have one story to tell, not...a ton of them. But Thieves and Kings especially is so good! If you can find it, read it!

Yeah...I even have a writer/artist friend locally who learned to drive back when I was supposed to be...I lost track of her, and when I saw her again she said she had stopped driving and her car grew mold or something. haha.I kept trying for awhile but I think the road is better off without me. I'm so jumpy and easily distracted.

I love Meatcake!
And I used to have one of the original issues of Likewise, but I think my sister stole it :(

This is the one time I am sad I don't have TV. I really wanted to see JKR. Well, I'm sure it will be on line soon enough!

If you know Joann Sfar, you probably already have read The Professor's Daughter. Funny you should mention her, because just today I reread that book. Very funny, with Victorian Brits and Egyptian mummies...

I have that too. (Good gracious, do I already have every comic people mention?) But Vampire Loves is my favorite. Gah, such funny and quirky stuff. (I think Joann is a boy though.)

it drove me CRAZY how Oprah would ask JK a question, and then.... answer it for her.
I get the impression (I don't usually watch Oprah) that Oprah is used to interviewing people who can't articulate, rather than people who give thought to their answers before speaking....
I felt deprived, in a way, of JK's answers.

I did love hearing that she "Could throw money at the problem" of not being able to write at home, I didn't realize she'd finished Deathly Hallows at the Balmoral!

Yes...I agree. Augh. It was frustrating. Plus I found it very awkward how often she brought up Jesus! Considering religion in JKR's books has always been this point of discussion and contention, and I felt like Oprah was bringing up Jesus in very awkward and weird ways, almost as if trying to provoke JKR into more religious discussion? I don't know. It just seemed very out of place.
