what my weekend consisted of, or, "roxas, that's a stick"

On Friday night I managed to finagle my way into playing Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days. I have spent twelve and a half hours of my weekend playing it. FRICKING AWESOME, MAN. Never mind that right now I'm also in the process of playing Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy V, and Chrono Trigger, because it's KINGDOM HEARTS 358/2 DAYS!

Anyway, I'll probably be posting more on the game once I finish it, but so far here are my thoughts:

1. The script is absolutely hilarious. Not hilariously bad, most of the time, but there are definitely more hilarious lines than I can count in this game. Perhaps that's one of the advantages of a text-based game: you can have more hilarious lines of dialogue that don't end up heading too much into Narm territory.
2. I've concluded that if you want to torture me in a video game, just give me a mission in which I have to avoid being seen by a walking candelabra. I cannot tell you how many times I had my "FUCK YOU, LUMIERE!" moments while trying to get all of the chests in Mission 29.
3. Mission Mode? Not as fun as I thought it would be. I thought that being able to play as all the Organization XIII members would be awesome, but because many of them handle so differently from Roxas it takes some getting used to and I'm not patient enough for that. That's why I often play in Mission Mode as Xion, because she handles the same as Roxas but is someone different for a change. Not that I dislike playing as Roxas, mind you.
4. Although the pacing of the game is kind of wonky, I still love it.

Also? Seven weeks from today, it will be hours from the series finale of Lost. Nine weeks from today, I will have graduated high school. Time certainly moves by fast.

this guy are sick, kingdom hearts 358/2 days, don't bother me!, gaming, fucking awesome, squee!, kingdom hearts
