So today, after Saturday's incident with the train tickets, I finally got to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. It was excellent, definitely one of the better movie adaptations.
Although there were things that were left out/condensed, there wasn't anything glaringly missing or added for no reason (no burning down the Burrow for no reason, yay! Although I guess it did manage to rebuild itself in the time between the two movies, which makes me wonder what was the point of it being destroyed in the first place). Well, about random things added, there was the random dance between Harry and Hermione in the tend which was kind of like... well, okay then. And Dumbledore's history was noticeably missing, aside from a little bit about his friendship with Grindelwald, but I imagine that more of Dumbledore's story will come out in part two, probably when Harry and company talk to Aberforth.
I also officially validated my NaNoWriMo win about 45 minutes ago :D I'm at 59,630 words so far, but still have all the climactic stuff/at least one really long flashback scene to go. I'm hoping to reach 70,000 or so words by the end of the month and finish it up in December somewhere between 75,000 and 80,000 words.
The "congratulations!" video that they give you when you validate your win, though, did remind me a lot of this, which both amused and slightly disturbed me, because writing a novel is nothing like going through nonsensical soul-searching after trauma after trauma is piled on you. Well, maybe for some people it is.

And finally, with every squee must come some bad news, which in this case is the death of my computer Ellone's hard drive. Basically, I dropped it on Sunday night when putting it on the floor so I wouldn't be distracted while I was studying. I took it to the Geek Squad guys at Best Buy today, which confirmed that the hard drive was pretty much shot. Thankfully I have backups of most of my important stuff, so although I did lose some things, it wasn't a huge loss.

You will be sorely missed but my new hard drive is much bigger so yay!
