I really should make a detailed post about everything. I keep putting things off till I get off my ass and edit pictures. I've realized that this is something that isn't going to happen.
Fanime:
Fanime was awesome. I'm not going into a real con report because my most interesting story has already been told. And that's the story of how Tog is psychic and can sense zombies with her oddly dolphin like calls.
I spent almost the entire convention chatting with the 4DE guy who was incredibly cool. I kept thinking that I'd accidentally freaked him out with my terrible sense of humor and then he'd make an even worse joke. It was a beautiful string of conversations. I also talked with the woman working the booth and she was great and was interested in dolls.
So fanime in a nut shell: My sideburns were amazing, people actually recognized me as Ples, the 4DE people are great, Tog is psychic, Astro has moose boxers, Jesse is still huge, Josh is still moe, and Lauren is still the cutest Naoto.
The few days between Fanime and Califur:
Went to class. Went with Lauren to the wax museum, the Ripley's believe it or not museum, and the Guinness World Records museum. A gay time was had by all. At some point I'll have a million pictures from this, as Lauren took a bunch. We also tried to get some pamphlets from the Scientology building but they were locked. I think they saw us coming.
Repacked. Went to my last working day in my sculpting class.
Califur:
Got there on Friday after my class. Ran around doing start of con madness set up stuff. Sat with Dash playing Persona 4 till I had work to do. Did the work I had to do. Repeat macro. Then on Saturday I got up at stupid early o'clock and sat playing on my DS till I had work to do and then did said work. Also waffles were had. Later in the day I ended up in the Cabaret, which was fun for two reasons. One) It went pretty well I think. Two) I met/actually talked to the amazing Amanda-panda who lives with Devon and co. and is not only really cool and really fun to talk to but also does special effects stuff and make up and everything and grew up doing so. What does this mean? Her father was looking for an intern. It looks like I may just be that intern. BEST SUMMER POSITION EVER. It's not paid but WHO CARES. I'm drooling just thinking of the equipment I might get to play with.
Sunday was tear down and it all went pretty well. I got Con-ops out fairly quickly all things considered. Also all day people were stopping me going "weren't you in the cabaret? You sounded amazing!" I was a little surprised. Pleased, but surprised none the less. One guy kept calling me song bird which was kinda amusing. At the gripe session at the end of con one person asked if I would be in the cabaret again next year and the rest of the committee basically said I had no choice.
Sunday night/Monday morning was pretty good too. I ended up talking with Frosty for hours and hours. With any luck he's going to show me how to make my own professional quality vacuum casting chamber. Also we may end up going to the La Brea Tar Pits. Because seriously, who doesn't like the the tar tar pits?
After Califur to now:
Went to class.
Spent a million hours in Norms with Dash playing 3 Dragon Ante because we're nerds like that.
Played Call of Cthulhu. Had far too much fun playing Call of Cthulhu.
Hung out with Skuld and Helen. Troubleshot TF2 for several hours then finally got it running right again. Discovered I now need to manually install maps cause prop hunt hates me. Drank a lot of tea.
Beat up a boss in D&D with incredible speed, brought on by the will to run away to the pub.
Went out drinking for a bit with Skuld, Jeanette, Andrew, Joe, Helen, and Hillel. It was far too loud at the daily pint so we moved over to the Joker after awhile and played pool. I've also come to the conclusion that Skuld's friends are awesome and I need to steal them.
FINALLY we have gotten to today. I went to Sheri's birthday party. It was a blast. The pinata was crazy and everyone was really nice. I think Sheri has managed to accumulate some of the only non-crazy furries in existence into one group of friends. It was rather nice. The park was filled with squirrels and the occasional rabbit. I made a new friend who I apparently managed to not freak out by being overly interested in their existence as I sometimes am when meeting new people.... aaaaaaaand that's pretty much it. Dinner was lovely and filled with copious amounts of garlic butter, shrimp, various other seafood, and garlic bread.
I did feel a bit odd though about meeting new people since today I was wearing a skirt. I actually looked like a girl today, which isn't as common as one might think. It always feels odd to meet people when I'm wearing more normal girl clothes, I dunno. It's a nice skirt though. I got it recently along with a shirt that's covered in a print comprised of root vegetables that may or may not be carrots.
Hopefully now that I've posted this I wont be as hesitant about making posts since I wont be worried about not feeling like writing up some huge report post.
Oh and my figure sculpting final went well. I'll have some photos up some day. One day.
