I didn't see the Carrie Underwood "Sound of Music," and, since my first reaction to hearing of a death is laughter/sarcasm (seriously, it's a nervous reaction that I suppress strenuously -- and then the gut blow of loss hits me), my first uncensored thought upon reading that Eleanor Parker had died was "she needed a grave to roll over in." *sigh

I do hope NBC realizes that there is a market in Broadway musicals. The press when they cast someone (please, please do something smart like 'Smash' when they actually recruited Broadway talent even if the show itself was weak). The audience that will watch because of the BIG NAME STAR they attach to it. The small audience who will watch, patiently and hopefully, as their fave musical finally gets national recognition. The few who will discover Broadway by accident via this vehicle....
