Arisia (Boston) meet and sniff report
Considering that
octoberland and i didn't actually get in touch with each other and start planning this until the week before the event, i think it went well! We had the meet and sniff on Saturday. We had several folks show up with their stashes, a few folsk who traveled stashless, and several complete newbies show up to just sniff... even after the meet and sniff was over people were checking in with me about it, so since i had my box of goodies i usually let them sniff. suggested a few scents, told them about the various LJ groups, etc. if they were new and liked a scent i could spare i gave them an imp.
i told all the new folks about
sinandsalvation and hopefully a few of them will wander over... and i hope some of them will remember that i asked them to post on my Arisia Roll call post (two posts back)
i gave five newbies their first imps of BPAL (insert evil cackle here) i know at least one of them has placed an order already with the lab...

i ordered a bunch of imp bottles, pipettes and such from
wren08 . overnight shipping is NO fun, but thats what i get for starting this late! she got it to the hotel and we had it for the decanting needs of the group. fortunately others also brought their decanting supplies, but i didn't know if they would... anyway i needed the supplies for my own stash, so now i have them.
next year, i will add "paper and pens" to my packing list. because we all kept borrowing the one pen in the room....
naturally i traded some, and ended up with some new yummies to try out. i expect i will be asking folks if they have links to (or saved copies of) the descriptions on some of the older LE scents i got. i got Purple Phoenix, among other scents. it smells very purple. really purple... there is no other way to describe it. its PURPLE!
i also got decanted imps from Mr. Nancy, Spider and Bilquis. all of them from the Neil Gaiman scents of course.
i finally saw what all the BPAl folks mean when they say "ammo cases" i always wondered why anyone thought they would make good imp storage. well i was picturing the old metal ammo boxes the military uses! What they are talking about are little plastic cases for individual bullets, which fit the imps perfectly, not big metal boxes for boxes of ammo!
