Yarn and Fiber

Well, on the non -kitty side of life, if there is such a thing.....the new season's yarn ordering has started...

I have been getting the new sample books in from some of the yarn suppliers.  Yummy stuff, if i was feeling better I would likely be quite excited.  The new colorways are gorgeous, and some of the new lines i am carrying are absolutely sinful. The multi color-yarns have been improving every season, and i really think this season's multi-colors are the best i have seen.

I tend to specialize in non sheep wool yarns, because there are so  many places to get the wool, but not too many places carry 100% Cashmere, or Alpaca, or Silk (in a worsted weight).  This doesn't mean that i will not have wool yarn (i do) or that i dont carry wool blends (i do) but simply that i put a lot moe of my budget towards non wool yarns proportionately, than many other people.

I just got in my first order of Cashmere and silk yarns from Jade Sapphire. For those of you who don't know, they are a direct importer from Mongolia.  They go out to Mongolia and see the production, meet the herdsmen, etc... It is expensive stuff, to be honest, so i tend to stock a lot of patterns that work up with just one or two skeins... but just to see the colors!  Webpages don't do it justice.  The texture is too die for too.
The silks are lovely, i admit the silk Boucle is not my style usually, but there version is very nice.  their worsted weight silk yarn, on the other hand... drooooooool! and so shiny!
They also sent me one box of their lace weight lambswool.. which i admit i was sceptical about.  It is much more expensive than many other "laceweight" wools, but i gambled on a box.  WOW! that stuff is as thin, or thinner, than any embroidery wool i had seen....much finer than the other lace weight wools i have.
sadly I had ordered this rather large order right before my cat got hospitalized, so i sure have some incentive to sell it all..... lots of money in that inventory!

I am putting together my order for Misti Alpaca Yarn, from Misti International.  Piles of 100% Alpaca yarns, in lace weight to chunky!  I love Alpaca, whether its fiber to spin or yarns, so i always carry Alpaca fiber or yarn.  I just think the samples i got from Misti were really nice, so i will be carrying their line.  They also have some gorgeous Ruanas (like a cape crossed with a shawl) made of 100% baby alpaca from traditional weavers and craftspeople in Peru.  I always like to support hand crafted work, so i will likely order some soon.

china, lace, wool, silk, crochet, yarn, knitting, alpaca, mongol, knit, garb
