How did you get into merchanting?
1. i wanted to go to conventions and couldn't afford it, so i was working security..... and as far as i recall, i ended up selling one of my costumes. so next convention i brought a few bits of garb to sell (at an SF con) and my hubby brought walking sticks...... after the car accident when i couldnt sew any more i was selling the supplies, it went from there....
Why do you still do it?
2. hmmm.... now there is a good question.
part of it, honestly, is just that i HATE paying retail for my own hobby stuff.
partly because crowds scare me, i get /used to get panic attacks. this way i sit behind a safe zone (my booth) and people come to see ME. i can go out, and if i feel overwhelemed get back behind my table. its not so bad anymore, but at first was a big issue.
cash, did i mention cash? i actually LIKE sales and customer service.
it still pays for my going to events....
whats your favorite color?
3. purple, with green a close second, although lately blue has been gaining ground.
whats your day job?
4. i do not have a day job, fabric dragon IS my job right now. I used to be part owner of a new age shop... but that is after the fabric dragon started.. also after the army. when that shop issue melted down (personality conflicts with the other owner) i worked at a fast food hell.. err... resterant for a while.... that was last year. i will likely have to job hunt after Pennsic.
what non SCA thing do you do on your free weekends?
5. what the heck is a free weekend?oh, right. a weekend i don't make money.
uh........uh.....errr.......
the internet, my live journal, my yahoo groups.
i spin,knit, and embroider a bit
ummmmm non sca? uh so i cant count my laurel projects.. ummm.....
shop?
things i actually end up doing, but don't particularly enjoy? clean fish tanks, clean the house, get the car repaired, stuff like that. actually thats usually taking up most of my "free weekends"
