I cannot add anything to this advice as it is all brilliant. The main issue to me is if you can resell it without a lot of effort or loss of money if things don't work out the way you plan.
well.... what does it say that almost no one that owns one ever re sells it? even the people who upgraded to a better machine/more needles/newer model KEEP the old one.
now re sale value for most sewing machines of this sort is poor.... so i assume that the re sale value would be low... but that is an ASSUMPTION based on sewing machines
Ok, so there is probably no going back if you do buy it. Can you take the loss if it doesn't pay for itself? Perhaps it pays for itself by keeping you happy and healthy?
yup. been through that site a lot. basically the reviewer says that the singer is "ok" but the babylock is really darn good. she assumes a home user, and says "most home users will be fine with the singer" but i would not BE most home users, and the reviews i have read are dubious about the motor quality on the singer....if i were just felting pretty wall designs on light felt, well a singer would be fine.
as i said to a comment above yours.. there is a non finacial payback here. school right now i HAVE to needle felt an entire coat
i have arthritis this is NO FUN
so healthy would be a big consideration.
in addition i have future classes where being able to make my own fabrics, embellishments and so on can add seriously to the "wow factor" and grade... just like hand dying my own silk already did.
right now my sewing machine is making me no income, but its pretty much a required object for school....this is an optional object for school, but there is some payback that isnt monetary....
