whouseknecht here posting for Kirsten.
Long Story Short: She is staying with some friends in NJ because her car broke down en route from I-CON.
Last night (Sunday), as she was driving home from
I-CON, her car starting acting up (ABS light coming on for no reason, battery light going on and off, etc.). Eventually, after the car's steering started going wonky and diagnostics lights were flickering on the dash, she managed to pull off the BQE onto some street in Brooklyn.
After calling AAA for a tow, she waited over an hour for the tow driver to arrive. Evidently, due to the car being front-wheel drive, they have to find a flatbed to tow the car. Why this is is rather unclear to me.
When the driver showed up, she then discovered that, in order to be towed to our friends house in South Amboy, NJ, she would have to pay the tolls both ways for the truck driver. This ended up costing over $60, cash.
After a further delay where the driver had to go back to his depot (i.e., a gas station) because the car would not shift out of park into neutral, and thus could not be simply backed off the truck bed, she finally arrived at our friends house at around 12:20 AM this morning.
Our friends have some hands-on experience with cars, so they'll be trying to diagnose and repair the problem (possibly belts or the alternator) in the morning. If that doesn't work, then she'll have the car towed to our dealership in Langhorne, PA for repairs and can hopefully arrange for a loaner vehicle to get her home.
Good thoughts, prayers, etc. are appreciated.
