College Blog: final exam dress
so this is the dress themed for the Cherry Blossom Festival.
IF it gets picked for the festival i have a lot of work to do on it.. but i learned a lot making it.
the pink fabric is an antique Kimono taken apart... the green is a silk charmeuse. the brown is hand dyed silk noil.. three shades of brown dye, one all over dye and then squiggles and splotches with an applicator, cut into bias strips.
the flowers are made using an authentic Japanese technique called Kanzashi, but updated and in different material. and if i did it again i would NOT use covered buttons, but fabric yo yos to cover the centers
