This is indeed a blog about Bella, but hardly the typical dog blog....
i was walking here this morning (i have been getting more exercise with her around) and we went our usual route about.. said hi to some folks she knows and got the usual "is that a bear?" and "what kind of dog is that?!" and so on.
i am used to that, happens all the time.
now mind you i often say "Russian Mountain Dog" because in this neighborhood saying "Caucasian Mountain Dog" makes people look at you funny because
1. are you some kind of white supremacist?
2. the dog isn't white
so a guy comes along and is walking in the street (i get that a lot, they dont want to be on the sidewalk with the dog, or they dont want to be to close to a strange person, or they think the sidewalks are too uneven ) and this guy calls out
"Is that a Caucasian Mountain Dog?"
i almost fell over Bella's leash
why YES! omg! you know what she is????
we start talking a bit, the fellow (his name is Darryl) says he didnt know there was another one around, his brother owns one.... he lives in center city somewhere...
and
it
turns
out
its Bella's old mate.
yup, the OTHER adult (male) seized from the drug dealer by the PSPCA and thats where his brother got her...
He was on his way to the El to go to work so we have a tentative arrangement to TRY to get in touch on email and maybe set up a play date at a local dog park.
color me stunned. i mean i KNOW that the likelihood is that the other dog and her puppies all ended up in or near the city, especially since Darryl confirmed my suspicion that almost all of them ended up with shelter workers or their families.... but the odds that i would run into a
"Dog in law"
literally one block away form my house?
