so, we are both home.
whouseknecht went to Darkover with help from
Krings_keep and
Freyas_fire . This event usually does fairly well, this year? not so much. the economy may be "recovering" but i havent seen much of it on this end. THEY at least got to go to a Clam Chowder concert. sniffle.
I was at the Red Cross Holiday Craft Show at the Kingston Armory in Wilkes-Barre.
This event was a "first" for me, so i knew my income wouldnt be as great as it might be just because i didnt know what to bring, what would sell, etc. Also i was in the "secondary" section, which while it may have been divided from the main only by a colonnade, is still psychologically a "second room" which automatically drops your income.
Apparently we also were competing against a "indoor flea market" that opened up THAT day (Saturday) and was being covered heavily by one of the local stations. This could not have helped. We did get a good bit of news coverage on Saturday, which i think boosted our attendance on Sunday.
In particular the Citizens' Voice, a local paper, interviewed several of us and i got about 3 inches of column space!... ok, ok, most of it taken up with my enthusiasm about platelet donation and pheresis. I am told we got on the evening news but i hadnt watched it.
This event would have been a serious loss except that my neighbor (another vendor) dropped some serious bucks on me buying her Xmas presents. i did get invited to a few other events, or at least told about them, and given the "first time" and the economy i wont judge this event too harshly. Assuming all goes well i will give it another try next year.
neither event did as well as expected, unfortunately.
I am now getting my homework for my 8 am class printed. yuck, mornings!
