in my class today we were discussing Sumeria and other ancient cultures (mostly their art and etc)
nothing was wrong with the class, the notes, the instruction, or anything. fascinating stuff really!

Excavate: to dig sht up, to make a hole in the ground, the reverse of "bury".
apparently a large number of people in the class not only needed it pronounced, but had to have it defined... repeatedly.
Subtle: the opposite of obvious, see also hidden
not one of the people in my small group of 5 people doing an in class project could recognize this word in the text book, they all thought it was a mis print or something. two of them recognized it when pronounced, as they simply didnt "hear" the "B" sound (which is more understandable)
There is more, but i get my blood pressure up even thinking about it... the REPEATED questions about whether this building (in the picture) ever had a roof (yes, those stone pillars held it up.. get with it.)wears on you after a while.
The admissions requirements for this school are a HS diploma, and a MINIMUM 2.0 grade point average in HS, plus a reasonable SAT score or equivalent. I had to get letters of recomendation to enter because my grade point average was above 2.0 but not by enough to make them happy.
