make the cold decision ... which event will bring you more $.
I am on fabric-hiatus until we have unpacked from the new place, so even the suit weight black wool would get a pass from me at this point. You couldn't even tempt me with embroidery silks.
Have you come across leopard-print (or zebra, or any other animal print) fun fur in turquoise, red, lime green, and/or blue?
I've been trying to find it, especially the turquoise, but while I have seen it at Joanns in the past, I can't find it now. I did find it online, but shipping was literally as much as or more than the fabric -- how 1 yard of fabric can cost $12 to ship, I do not know.
If you DO come across this stuff, will you let me know? I will paypal or etransfer money to you for it in a heartbeat. I need ~2 yards of any or all colors for my roller derby suit skirts (I already have pink and yellow).
oh no problem hun i am SURE i can find print fun fur in wild colors at jo mar and yes, it can be expensive to ship.. the fun fur is bulky! so if you dont want to wedge it into a small box, it costs...
now, as long as you understand that to ship it cheap i will need to squish it, so you may need to let it hang out a few days, or you might just throw it in the wash on gentle cold and let it air dry to get the squish out
(hit wrong button, sorry) anyway, i forget.. where are you? maybe we can ship it "fannish express"
Oh, yeah, squishing flat will be more than fine! I wash my skirts and they roll up at the edges but they unwrinkle just fine. I just know there's no stinkin' way that the online fabric companies are REALLY paying $12 for shipping on a yard or 2 of fun fur; it's just their cheapest cost of shipping no matter how little you order (I've checked -- 1 yard of lace costs $12 to ship, as well), and they charge exorbitant S&H in part because they use all new shipping materials which is a big waste, imo. (I used to run a tidy little circle of farming out used-once padded envelopes to eBayers and Etsy people from my old company via Freecycle -- the amount of trash that companies produce by using once and then throwing away boggles my mind
( ... )
i have a balancing act between "saving useful packaging" and "storage space" but i do try.
i am going back to Jo Mar this week and will look for your "dead neon alien fur" lol i will let you know how much ands we can work out slow boat or other shipping
I'll be at my own barony's Performers' Revel, which sadly conflicts with the Bright Hills event. That is ... IF the event is held, meaning IF the host's and hostess's subdivision is plowed out by Saturday....
Ooo, ooo, ooo, green 100% wool, real green and dark green. And yes I'd like cloak weight too as I'm not allowed to get cold anymore. I won't be at either event (wrong state at wrong time for both). If you've got any left we can talk.
the green 100% i have is VERY dark, but its. not hunter, just a shade too olive to be hunter for me..... but not "olivey" . i am a winter and i can wear it....and its suit weight .. good for skirts/dresses/etc how much do you want, i can ship or do fannish express?
also the coat/cloak weight in green is a bit more of a true hunter, but they shouldnt clash too badly.... how much do you want?
bear in mind for shipping that wool, especially cloak wool, is HEAVY and bulky...
Well, I'm more interested in the coat/cloak weight, and I do try to avoid olive (though I have an apprentice it looks fine on). I'm sure we could manage to arrange a mutual event for pick-up if that worked out for you. (Or I could send one of my minions if I'm not going.)
If you go to Bright Hills, my apprentice should be there. (Not the one that wears olive but another one).

If you're at Bellringers I want to look at linen -- I'm already considering clothes for Pennsic (crosses fingers).
