Lady Rowans Place, Rosaries, etc

Dec 29, 2009 11:50

Many of you know i have great devotion to the Rosary.

whether you call it a Paternoster, and make it according to the styles of the Middle Ages, or not, its a part of almost any jewelry makers (or bead makers) history. Prayer beads are a fundamental part of the history of MANY religions..... and i am fond of anything that combines prayer, and beads.....
but
right now i am talking about Rosaries, and my friend Lynn Hunter (may she rest in peace) aka ladyrowansplace  , and a group that brought me, rosaries, and Ro together even at the worst times of her cancer treatment.
that group is Rosary Army

They are a "Catholic Apostolate" that means they are being Apostles, spreading the word... etc.
unlike most other religious groups.... they never contact you.
ever
you contact THEM
they dont show up at your doorstep, they dont mail you letters, they dont try to convert you , or preach at you, all they do is:

teach people how to make knotted cord Rosaries by web, dvd, or pdf (free)
(also for a small fee you can ASK them to come to your church and do so)
give away knotted cord Rosaries to ANYONE who asks by mail (free)
teach people how to pray the Rosary, through podcasts and pdf files (free)

they also (or their founders also)
make really entertaining podcasts about Catholic life (free)
provide links to other Catholic sites of interest (free)

in other words, if you are not interested, you wont hear from them

This year the economy has been horrid, i know that isnt news... but it has affected them as well ... for the FIRST time ever, they had to send out a fund raising letter.
(only to people like me, who said "yup, here is my address, send me something when you have anything to say)

so, i am asking for people to do any of the following that you feel comfortable with:
donate to them. its tax deductible
pray for them (obviously a Rosary would be a good choice )
Make a Rosary, and give it away to someone who wants one
publicize them

and remember....if you want a Rosary, FREE you can ask them, or me, or any of the other folks that learned to "make them, pray them, and give them away" from Rosary Army.

and please also keep Lynn Hunter (RIP) in your prayers and thoughts,
the lady who inspired me to learn to make MRI safe Rosaries (knotted cross instead of a metal crucifix on a knotted rosary)
