i was at Darkover convention as usual......
the crowd seemed a lot smaller, i hear several of our usual suspects were ill, but generally the numbers "looked" down, i dont have anything official though.
My sales were definitely down.
I certainly hope that the SCA event "Bhakail Yule" brings in some money because frankly this wasnt nearly what it should have been.
that said, i saw a lot of folks i know, met some Lj people i hadnt met in person .... etc...
(hey, shout out if i saw you at Darkover!)
The dog was boarded this weekend. while he was boarded we had him given the full wash and wax (get the blasted undercoat groomed off so his skin can heal from the allergies... and clip his nails.) he looks very nice and handsome and very glossy black, they got just about all the underfur off of him! if anyone tells you that the "Furminator treatment with the special conditioner" is available.... it WORKS! i knew the furminator comb thingie worked, but i coudlnt keep up on the matts and the oily goo he got into. He is all pretty and clean now.
allergies you say?
yup, he got some kind of allergic attack and started licking at spots... which he licked raw, so the wet fur on them itched, and caused problems, so he licked at it.... also he had some kind of gooey stuff in his fur.
the vet said "clear cut allergies" shaved big patches of his fur to let the areas dry out (shaving the poor dogs under arms was not fun) gave us anti biotics and anti histamines.... and charged us 300 mumble dollars
ouch
he also said that we needed to either chave the hair on his back, or get all that dirty underfur groomed out and bathed..... well i cant lift him as easily as i used to, and he is getting old enough that he doesnt jump into the bathtub very well anymore... therefore the trip to the paid groomers...
ouch again, but not that bad
still.. pretty shiny dog, who doesnt smell funny anymore, and doesnt itch.
The diet was shot to heck over the weekend. oh i ate better than i usually do at a convention, but no WAY was it what i wanted to eat.
we had a dealers' food plan with a few of us.... i brought crock pot and bread machine, and lots of fresh veggies.
i over packed a lot of food stuff... and packed too many things that required too much prep, so ended up not using them. live and learn... the overnight steel cut oatmeal, however was a hit.
