Sad Happening

We're over at Shands today for Morgan's treatment.   I sent her on upstairs while I stopped off at the Ladies Room, only to find this elderly lady in a wheelchair stranded and all alone.  She had been to the center for a treatment for I don't know what, and someone had wheeled her to the bathroom and left her there.  From what I could get from her, she lives alone and the state pays for a bus to pick her up for her weekly treatments.  Apparently they get you to the door and then you're on your own, and when you're done you have to wait out front for the little white bus.

She was desperate and asked me for help.  Of course I did, but it makes me sick to think how someone could have robbed or harmed her in some way.  I assured her that I would help and it was pitiful how she kept thanking me.  I used my briefcase to hold open the door, which why it doesn't have an automatic opener I don't know.  Things I take for granted unfortunately.  Anyway, we made it to the  front and I left her with Security.  The guard put her out of the sun and said he'd be there until her ride arrived.

All I can think about is that could be my parents in 15-20 years, and I don't want them to ever be in that situtation.  I hope I never am, and Morgan just promised me I wouldn't be.
