Ryan opened the door carefully and quietly. He did not need the three Siberian Huskies that Brendon took in ruining his surprise visit. Since Brendon was a vet and Ryan was on the road, they hardly ever got time together. Ryan wanted to surprise his boyfriend for Christmas, since Brendon didn’t think he’d be able to come home. He took off his shoes and stepped over dog toys. His foot accidentally hit a squeaky toy and soon barking followed. Ryan was rushed by three huge dogs and fell to the floor.
“Ryan?” Brendon asked in surprise as he turned the lights on.
“Uh, surprise?” Ryan said as the dogs slobbered on him.
Brendon beamed happily and threw himself onto the pile of dogs and Ryan. “You said you couldn’t come home!”
“I lied. It’s Christmas and you love it so…”
Brendon threw his arms around Ryan’s shoulders and kissed him. “I’m glad you came home for Christmas.”
