[first things first: he's definitely not outdoors anymore]

[and then there's the whole deal with the softness at his back and head that feels suspiciously like, well... a bed]

[he keeps his eyes closed]

Hey, you know, when they said death was like falling asleep, I don't think this is what they meant.

... Whoever you are.

So that was fake, too ( Read more... )

[it takes a little while for him to get back to you]

Interest--

Are you the one behind this?

Oh, I wouldn't say I was. I'm just another participant on the board of this amusing game.

Of course, if I were responsible, I would probably make the same claim.

I'm done being someone's toy. I don't care who you are or what you're playing at -- you'd better stay out of my way!

That's a good attitude. It's also completely futile, because you are the toy of this place now, if you want it or not.

Heh. I'm not too good at giving up.

Good. I like those that don't give up, even when, to escape, they have to die a thousand times.

Oh, on that subject, don't worry about dying. Even if you kill yourself, you'll always come back. Not even death grants respite here. Not for long, that is.

I'm not here for your entertainment, you know.

[nevertheless, you've successfully distracted him from his suspicion for the moment] No dying... huh. Is that how it works? Respite from what?

[She just chuckles about his first sentence. After all, from her perspective, everything is entertainment for her in one way or another.]

From this place. Some might try to commit suicide to stop being here. I'm simply mentioning that it doesn't work.

[thanks for laughing at him, you get more hostility in return]

Yeah, well, like I said. It doesn't matter, I'm not going down that easy.

[back on track] ... What is here, anyway?

Oh, this is Mayfield. This appears to be a kind of dimensional pocket, even space is warped in a way that, if you leave here towards the north, you end up back in the south. Everyone is subjected to the whims of the ones controlling the place, who can take anything away, including your mind. Isn't it a lovely place?

Usually worlds have a boundary anyway, not like you can leave them just like that.

What, you mean -- mind control? [his voice is suddenly a snarl] What for?

Oh, some usually can leave worlds.

For anything the town wants that you go against, usually. If you act out of line, or go to the wrong place, your mind is gone for a while and you're turned in one of those happy drones. Some people were quite surprised about it.

But they can't here. [Not Happy with this, ok]

... Go to the wrong place?! I'm in the wrong place!

beatssuperpaper March 29 2010, 07:32:26 UTC
Not for now, that is.

Some places are even more wrong than others, if the authorities of this place declare it so.

What do you mean?

And let me guess, the only way to figure it all out is with trial and error. Because that's so funny.
