Oh we're off to Aotearoa in the moooorning! ... Well four days actually.

Off to the motherland, home of the fourth-funniest folk-rock comedy duo in New Zealand. Actually since Bret and Jermaine are both Wellingtonians, then we WILL actually be going to their home-town.

Dammit I want one of these posters or at least a t-shirt that says it. The other poster about Scotland is also pretty funny but I can't remember what it is right this second.

Anyway, it will be "meet the in-laws-to-be" time for TG. At the moment she's being very phlegmatic about it, and I know she will take it all in stride, but I'm sure it's a bit of a worry for her as well.

ALSO May in Wellington is bloody freezing mostly (as in "they mostly come out at night... mostly") so there will be lots of long underwear wearing despite the nominal readings on the thermometers that say 48-58 degrees F.

Plus also much Chinese culturing will be done (which mostly consists of eating, talking about food, and drinking cups of tea, mostly). It will be nice to see the folks again and my brothers and sisters-in-law and the neice and nephew. Expect to be watching little kids' soccer games in weather reminiscent of the bit in Braveheart where he goes to see his girlfriend and is sitting on his horse with rain water gushing off his head in CHANNELS, and the girlfriends father says "Ah Young Wallace. A Grand soft evening, huh?"

I might even be able to get TG to go see the Star Trek movie with me under these kind of conditions (she hates all scifi except Firefly - which she loved - but I'm Working On It, brothers and sisters!)

Actually this will be the first trip in a long while there won't be anything by Peter Jackson to watch in the movie theaters. Que Concepto!! I can't actually believe it myself.

We'll also be spending some time in Auckland where the weather will be nicer, and we'll have some privacy to do all sorts of grown-up stuff. Definitely looking forward to that for SURE.
