Life goes on!!!

Jan 06, 2008 22:42

It´s been quite a while since I last posted (so much for my intention of posting everyday) but as usual with my life not much has happened since.

  • Christmas came and went (I got the customary underwear set from my mother, a walking toy chicken from my sister [?], and a bedside table for my new place from my other sister ). We spent it as usual: just the 6 of us (Mum, Dad, 2 sisters, brother and me), eating as much as we could, playing board games, drinking cider and dancing. In Argentina we usually have a big dinner party on the 24th and then spend the 25th eating asado and/or what`s left from the day before, so that's everything we did.
  • We spent New Year's Eve with a couple that are very old friends of my parents, so old and close that I used to call them  Aunt and Uncle. And we had a great time but it was very difficult for me to forget that Uncle J's got cancer and may not live to see 2009. It's all very sad... I don't really want to think about it.
  • My much loved and cherished cellphone died a very cruel, and untimely,  death when it fell in a bucket full of water last saturday. I almost had a heart attack but recovered as soon as I remembered the insurance policy I had bought a couple of days before. Then poor "celu`s" death didn't seem as untimely as it had at first. The whole thing made me realise just how attached I am to the stupid machine!!! I spent four days without it  and by thursday I was going mad. I went to the phone company  at noon, on thursday, hoping to avoid the crowd, but ended waiting almost 3 hours anyway to have them tell me that there was no way to fix the damage caused by the water. In the end they gave me the crappiest of cellphones to keep "communicated" until the give a new one completely free of charge... before the end of January. Sigh.
  • I finally began painting the new flat, and it's starting to look the way I want it to!!! The walls are gold (not shiny just yellow/bronze) but I'm still not sure what colour to paint the doors and windows. I accept suggestions!!! The floors are red and there is a lot of wood so it`s got to be something that goes well with both.
  • I discovered Dexter!! How could I possibly have lived this long without seeing that series is beyond me. Michael C Hall is an excellent actor, so much that I couldn't even look at him playing David Fisher without getting nervous.
That's it for now. I hope everyone's had a wonderful time this last month no matter what you celebrated... or not.
See you all "invisible readers" soon,
P.
