Barack Obama is now the President of the United States.

I'm so tired right now and I know I'm not going to be half as coherent as I was two hours ago when I was with my friends... but I just need to have an entry about tonight. Seriously one of the best nights of my life. My friends and I all went down to the cafeteria to watch the election on a big projector screen... finding out the states was cool, then the countdown. Five, four, three, two, one.... and the room exploded. Everyone was screaming, people were jumping up on chairs and tables, most people were crying and hugging everyone around them... this is how life should be. This is how our country should be. I'm so glad that this was my first election and that it turned out so much better than I could have even imagined.

As my friends and I watched Obama's speech, we all teared up a bit and were just so glad to be experiencing that moment. Afterwards we talked about so many things, maybe I'll write more tomorrow or some other time about this, but the best things I remember discussing were how far our country has come in such a short amount of time, and how nice it's going to be to no longer be ashamed of our leader. To know that things are going to change and get better.

Then we got into my friend's car and drove around a few blocks shouting "OBAMA" out the windows, and everyone cheered back. It's so nice to know that this is finally something that everyone can agree about, and this is someting that people actually care about. I mean, people (myself included) were crying tears of joy for the president! If that isn't amazing, I don't know what is.

possibly more to come tomorrow.

obama, election, best night ever, politics
