BTW, I did get two lovely answers to my challenge back on 1/12, from Steerpikesister and the Mandrake, which no one else has reviewed, so I think maybe people don't know they're hiding in the comments...
Raised voices, doors slamming, silence.
Then, soft footfalls, only detectable to the sharpest of ears.
“April thought you’d like it,” Evey mumbled, as the white porcelain half-mask fell to the floor from her loosened fingers, her robe quickly following, revealing the extent of her equally porcelain skin beneath. “Is it meaningless to apologize?”
“Never,” V husked, as he pulled her toward him.
