I just got done eating lunch, in between computer jobs. Not much in the fridge, so I had (I know John wouldn't approve, but it worked for me) veggie spring rolls and French Fries. Oh, wait. That's Freedom Fries isn't it? That got me thinking about how fucking ridiculous this country has become. I don't know how many of you heard about that at the begining of the war, but W (duh bul ya) decided that the White House cafe or whatever should change French Fries to Freedom Fries - because what we eat must have political meaning too. Brilliant! It got me thinking. Maybe we should also call a "french braid" a "freedom braid". Also, we shall call any 'Paris' (such as Hilton, or the late Latis) "Washington", just to make sure that we don't associate anything with the French. Just some additional ideas. If only I were a presidential advisor...
Driving around yesterday, I came across a lovely display of religious belief. (I'm sure many people have witnessed the same.) There were 1,500 crosses in the ground representing the babies that have died from abortion. That also got me thinking about things. In turn, I've decided that we should pass a law stating that womens' periods are illegal. Also, we might want to stop selling chicken eggs in grocery stores. Can you imagine the display for that?
Anyway, to sum it up, I just want to say, "Go [procreate with] yourself, Bush!".
Okay, so lots has happen, lots has been purchased, lots to do. Here we go:
Almost moved into my (mostly empty) apartment. So far, the only room I have completed is the bathroom - and (I must say), it looks quite nice.
Oops, wrong pic. Here we go:
(Sorry for the weird coloring, took it on my phone.)
Besides that, the rest of the place is pretty much empty, besides the mess I have to put away.
Yesterday was just an uninteresting day. I was busy the whole day, but still don't feel like I got a whole lot accomplished. Yesterday morning, I woke up and went to have something signed by a notory - long story. After that, I went to Target and got a few things for my apartment - including some stackable storage boxes. Then, I went home, cleaned out my "wires" box and threw out about 2/5ths of it. It felt good. I've decided that instead of only putting away, I'm eliminating as well. There's no point in saving crap that I don't need. That's the good thing about moving - it forces you to sort and dispose.
Later in the day, a customer's brother (the customer died last month) called me offering his computer for a ridiculously low price. So, I went over there, cleared out the hard drives, and got it. I'm going to eventually upgrade my desktop (which I'm on right now) to a 3.2GHz (from 3.06GHz) - and a much newer video card. (It's about time; today's cards have 512MB RAM; mine is only 64MB - but I don't do much 3D work.)
So, I'm sure everyone has heard about how badly Northwest and Mesaba are both doing. It's finally started to affect me. First off, they are going to take away our RJ-85s (my favorite plane) as of December (I think I already posted that?). So, in turn, they are asking people to volunteer to take the month of November off. The cool part is, those who get the month off will still have travel benefits & health insurance. Since I have 2 jobs, I decided I wouldn't mind a month off flying. I've already planned 2 trips:
1) to see my sister in California
2) to see my cousins (with my mother) in Boston
There will hopefully be a third one so that John and & I can go somewhere fun (and warm). But, we're still figuring that out. I might add on to that list too. I'd really like to use the airline for all I can before it's gone. I heard that they might even extend the stay through December. Hope for me!
I also heard from the IT guy I know at DaimlerChrysler. He wrote me and asked what was taking so long. I told him how CDI had put me on hold and I had been waiting for their move for 2 months. He proactively got in touch with the recruiter (I swear to god I hear a mouse in my room - weird hmmm; oh okay it was a wire rubbing against the desk as I type) anyway, got in touch with her and kinda gave her a push. The next day, she called me about a new position - one that would be in the Auburn Hills complex (which I'd much rather work in than Troy) AND in the same department as my friend. I'm hoping that they'll be interested in me - I'm really ready for a steady day job!
Had some good trips this month - 2 with 20 hour Philadelphia layovers and 18 hour Atlanta layovers. Both were a lot of fun. I really like being put in big cities with things to do and fun shops to shop in. In Philly, I bought a really cute hat, a new wallet (I previousely lost my old one, but that's another story), and some really cute (and expensive) briefs (for me & John).
Tomorrow, I start a 4-day trip with very unexciting layovers. I'm not too excited to be gone again - but at least I have that time off next month. The weekend afterwards, me & John are heading down to Cedar Point for Halloweekends. As all of you know, I love Halloween. And since I missed it last year, this year should be great (I hope). Just hope my good friend Katie is around by then to celebrate with me. I heard she's coming back to town in about a week. Can't wait to see her!!!
Another cool thing - there's a new show premiering on October 28th called Masters of Horror (on Showtime). If you don't showtime, I personally didn't say this or condone doing so, but I'm sure a file sharing client that rhymes with Pit Dormant would work really nicely to retrieve these episodes. Anyway, they have all the huge hollywood horror directors come together and each do an episode every week. I think there's a total of 12 scheduled episodes. Sounds like something fun to watch for halloween! If you want, check out the website here:
Masters of Horror.
