Crazy callers

The one thing I hate about nightshift (aside from the obvious "sleeping 10am-4pm" bit) is the crazy calling we have to go through every night. The switchboard closes at midnight and opens at 7:30am or so, so all calls to Channel 7, regardless of state etc, come to our front desk (and we HAVE TO answer, we're not *really* supposed to hang up on people either). Occasionally we actually get some normal callers who are just after the lotto numbers or want to let us know about a problem with the video feed (note: we pretend to take these notes down, nothing is actually done about it on our end), but more often than not we're forced to deal with idiots ("yeah, my girlfriend just got hit by a car... can you help?"), creepy people and plain bizzare... 'people' (not to mention the prank calls).

Why does the Channel 7 number (9697 7777) seem to draw all these people (namely 2am-4am)?

I've had people calling me asking about how to get on Sunrise because they stayed up "all night" watching the Soceroos play Croatia, people asking for more/less sex number ads (and, in the case of tonight, asking if we showed any child/teenage porn), people ranting about God (a popular choice), people asking for my own personal details (sure!). We get the odd violent caller too, with threats to kill us/themselves and blow up the network etc. The list goes on.

I'm so very much over it.
