i guess now would be as good of a time as any to finally update this thing. i don't know how long this will be or how short this will be so if it's too long, i apologize, if it's too short and you want to know more, email me or something.
Well, what has been going on in the life of Beth recently? Let's see. Well, I am now a graduate of Western Carolina University. I now have a BS in Sport Management! Wooo! Go me! I also finished school with a 3.55 GPA, and graduated cum laude. This was big for me considering my parents thought I would flunk out of college my first semester. HAHA I TOTALLY SHOWED THEM DIDNT I!! I am kinda relieved to be done yet scared at the same time.
Life in Savannah has been a welcomed change. It is great. I have wonderful roommates and work with some wonderful people. I have gotten to do some pretty awesome things with being on this staff this year including having a staff field trip to a water park(!) and got to go to a taping of Paula Deen's new Food Network show (look for me in the audience!). Either tomorrow or Wednesday will be the big day to find out whether I will be hired on as full time after the season ends. I would like to think that I will be. I have been learning the ins and outs of merchandise because the director of merchandise will be leaving in October, and if being director of merchandise is what keeps me here in Savannah, so be it. I'm kinda sad though because I do believe a lot of people in our staff will be leaving after the season is over. They are truly great people. These past couple of months in my internship have been so great, despite the team sucking so badly. We broke a nine game losing streak on Saturday, only to start another streak back up again on Sunday by losing. This experience has truly been a blessing if it does not continue, but I hope that it will at least another year. I think it would be exciting to see exactly what happens when it's the offseason. Cross your fingers for me! I know a lot of you were rooting for me when I had my phone interview with the Sand Gnats back in March! If for some reason I don't get a job with them, I will be in active persuit, and will be attending the Winter Meetings in Orlando if need be so I can get a job in baseball. I love it, it's long hours for not as much pay as I could be getting doing the exact same position in a different field, but I couldn't see myself really doing anything else. Just as long as I can find a team where I don't have to do tarp pulls, ugh because those suck!! haha we had to do one on Saturday and it couldn't have gone worse.. I fell not once but twice... but our timing sucks because everyone is in such a mad scramble to get it onto the field and be done with it before it rains.
As far as the guy situation, eh, well that's still the same, no real prospects or anything. I do like this guy I work with, but I am pretty sure he likes one of my roommates, Lauren, despite the fact that she has a boyfriend. I really like Scott (said guy), he's cute in this dorky way that I like, and has the physical features I really like in a guy like a nice nice smile and he wears glasses (hah, i'm a sucker for guys in glasses!). I don't want to persue this though b/c I think he might be leaving at the end of the season which would totally suck. Other than that, no one has really sparked my attention other than this one baseball player, but that's strictly prohibited. I just have a bit of a school girl crush on the baseball player.
I hope everyone is doing well themselves. I've tried to read past posts because I really haven't had the time to read peoples LJs at work, and our internet at our apartment is really spotty. If/when I get a job with the Sand Gnats, Lauren (one of my current roomies) and I are gonna get an apartment together on Whitemarsh Island (yeah, let me tell you i'm only like 10 minutes from the beach, jealous? hah) and we will have cable and internet there!! haha it's been kinda rough not having it, yet good at the same time. I can still check my email and my myspace and stuff at work when it's slow or when people are at lunch. It'd just be nice to get more than 3 channels on the TV.
ScottyG, the guy i like
the beach near my apartment!!
myself, and my old roomies LeeAnn and Heather, after graduation!
