As for breaking into the wedding photography, for me it's literally been a case of "if you build it, they will come." First step is a decent online portfolio (if you don't have any images you really love, shoot more weddings. Do it for free or for a very low fee if you have to...use Craigslist to find clients when starting out.) When you're ready, post images that people will look at and say "that's what I want". I don't do any search engine optimization (SEO) for my website (I should, of course, but I'm lazy and, frankly, can't take on any more work right now anyway), but somehow people find me...I get at least one wedding photography inquiry a week through my site. I do zero advertising. I will start advertising/SEO next year, though, and expect the number of inquiries to rise. So, my advice, based solely on my own experience (so I'm not guaranteeing it will work for you), is to put together a decent site with great photos. If no inquiries are coming through, reevaluate your image selection. As an additional step, search the net for info on SEO. This is a critical step if you're looking to generate lots of inquirities from potential clients. Hope this helps!
