Ezri watches him go, smiling to herself. She'd never expected Morn to be one requiring counselling. The first time he showed up on her door, she was very surprised. It turned out that he just needed to talk. He was feeling neglected; he felt that no one listened to him or really heard what he said. He's kept coming back, and she enjoys their

I'm thinking she has a mild form of recurring post-traumatic stress disorder. But then again, I know nothing about it. Sorta. XD

Hey, just so you know, I can't promise to be the world's greatest psychiatric authority on everything--I'm really not a therapist, although I've had a good bit of experience with them. So don't expect completely accurate psychoanalyses, okay? :)
Ezri purses her lips, having noticed Beriani's mood over the past few days. "Hell? How so?"

Beri wiggles a hand in a sort of "meh" motion. "Recurring dreams. And not the good kind, either." She looks haunted.

"I...I keep dreaming about the Grell V ambush, the one where...where Patrick was killed." Beriani normally wasn't one to stammer, but this had been a traumatic experience. "I see the shuttlecraft, every time...the Jem'Hadar came out of nowhere, and I...I killed that day. I killed out of pure vengeance."
Forgive me if it's crap. ><

Sorry if *this* is crap!
Ezri's worried; Beriani seems quite disturbed. She gently puts a hand on Beriani's arm, trying to reassure her. "It's okay. Breathe."
She takes a deep breath herself. "What happened at Grell V? Who did you kill?"

In between sniffles and deep breaths, Beriani says "A Jem'Hadar."
She takes another steadying breath. "Patrick and two others--D'Anot and Seret, a Bolian and a Vulcan--went out in a shuttlecraft to check out some weird energy readings. I was going to go to help, but Captain Sandman had already assigned Seret. They went around, didn't find anything...and then...and then..." Another deep breath, sounding a little shaky. "And then a Jem'Hadar attack ship came out of nowhere and started shooting at them. D'Anot got hurt, so Patrick took the phasers, and he got them twice, once in the nacelle, but before they blew up, they beamed Jem'Hadar throughout the ship and..."
Her voice goes to a whisper. "Destroyed the shuttlecraft. I was on the bridge, I saw it all."

Ezri looks worried. She's never seen Beriani quite this shaken before. She gives Beriani a quiet moment, and then chooses her words carefully. "I know what it's like to lose friends like that." I know what it's like to die like that. She takes a deep breath. "You feel you could have done something to save them, or that it's your fault somehow.... And then you're so angry--you have to get revenge, you have to make someone pay."
She obviously speaks from experience, her eyes full of remembrance. "You don't think about the consequences; you must avenge the death of your loved one. And if the only way to do that is to kill, then that's what you do."

Beriani nods a little before continuing. "Captain Sandman went to Engineering, so she could transfer command functions there and throw them off if they captured the bridge. I followed her, crawling through some Jeffries tubes. I got there on an upper catwalk, and I saw a Jem'Hadar there. It was going to shoot her."
She smiles hollowly a little. "I really have Patrick to thank for what happened next. He got me started on shooter holoprograms, and I knew exactly what to do. I carefully lined up the shot and fired." She makes a firing motion. "Bam. Direct hit. Saved the Captain, and that's how I got promoted. Five of the Vinland's crew died that day, and that's a good chunk of people for a ship with only 150 crewmen on at a time."
