This is why I have a problem with some fangirls...

So I've gotten myself into K-pop idol groups, mainly Shinee (although I just realized the other day all of them are younger than me by at least 2 years!), and U-Kiss (I enjoy that 3 speak English and a 4th tries hard too). But maybe I'm just missing something as I don't follow the J-Pop scene as much as I'm currently follow K-Pop but K-Pop fans kind-of scare me... there is this whole stalker culture behind following these people around.

Sure there are famcams of them at concerts, signings etc, but also, the group eating out, hundreds waiting for them afterwards, following them filming variety shows, eating at a restaurant, showing up at their graduation ceremonies... Its kind-of scary. Its like the paparazzi but instead of people being paid to follow the stars its teen girls with not much else to do and highly obsessed.

Just at the end of the year, Shinee was in Jakarta doing a 'friendship' concert, were it was free and 1000 lottery winners got to sit inside while others were outside watching on screens, if I'm getting this right. However the concert was a sort of 'fly in, preform, fly out' for an event in South Korea the next day. So with no fan-event girls waiting outside the stadium to try and get an autograph, give gifts whatever to Shinee as they left. However as they walked out the whole thing became a massive mob. Despite the attempt to surround the group, girls started grabbing at them, and two members, Key and Jonghyun where knocked down and if you see the videos of the event its terrifying. Both were taken to the hospital as soon as they landed back in South Korea, Key has bruised ribs and ordered to rest for two days, which Jonghyun injured his ankle and even needed surgery meaning both of them missed out on some major events. And he while he is back and singing, he's been sitting for performances (and watching them dance is awesome!)

Honestly, I understand the excitement of being at a big concert for people you admire. I remember the Aerosmith concert where I was close enough to touch Steve Tyler's hand, but at the same time he also grabbed at mine (since I did get pushed towards the side stage when he came over there). At the same time however, its not a time to through all reason out the window and become a mindless fool. These are people, that yes have talent in singing and dancing but if you treat them so, why would they want to perform? And if they are injured they can't even perform.

And the sad thing is, this just doesn't seem to be a thing that is happening in Asia. SM Entertainment (the agency a lot of idol groups are under) did a concert in LA and it was the same thing at the airport with security there! One girl was boasting in her video about touching Taemin (Shinee) although sad about how he didn't seem happy, and complaining about how security grabbed her away and told her off.

Cause I don't know about her, but I wouldn't be very happy about not being able to walk somewhere and being constantly grabbed at...its common sense.
