Looking for Miranda or Melou

As usual, Lucivar is pacing through the Mansion, frowning a little, and searching intently. For who else but Miranda. Because whether it's just Jaenelle being calmer, or meeting some new and marginally interesting people, or trying to teach Anita how to use an Eyrien stick, he's in a good mood, and finally ready to see her again without snarling

Melou is feeling a lot better now that his father has confirmed non-hatred, and also because his beloved brother is now here. Which is why he is not looking as utterly sorrowful as he usually does. In fact he is possibly eating some of Laurel's bread--old, as she hasn't baked this week--and smiling at the fish in the fountain. He remembers playing with baby Anna with the fish.

Lucivar wanders by, then, a little discouraged, and notices Melou and stops.

"Melou?" Carefully, not wanting to startle him.

He glances up, still smiling, though slightly shyer now, and less fine. "Sir?"

Lucivar makes a slight face. "I wanted to apologize for snapping. It wasn't intended to be at you."

The smile fades entirely, out of habit. "Ay, sir."

"Lucivar," he corrects, and glances down. "Mother Night. Don't look at me like that." More sadly than anything, though.

Melou looks baffled. He never smiles; he never has any good reason. He's never really even thought about it before. "What have I done?" dismayed.

Lucivar doesn't know that, unfortunately. "In my world, when someone marries one's sister, they're family, and I do not hurt family," Lucivar says, almost fiercely.

Fliiiiiiinch. Now you scared him.

"Nay, sir. Forgive me."

"Oh, Mother Night." Lucivar sits down and puts his face in his hands. "I'm doing this all wrong."

Melou stands by, looking nervous and uncomfortable. It's not like he's had any experience with how this is supposed to go.

He doesn't move. "I've frightened you."

[lesser_son]

"Nay, sir."

[eyrienprince]

Lucivar looks at him. "I haven't?"

[lesser_son]

"Nay, sir," lying staunchly. It's what he'd say to his father.

Lucivar eyes him. "Huh. I have a hard time believing that."
