thrifting makes me so happy. until i get home and research all my finds only to experience major remorse. like on friday, for example. i saw this typewriter that looked somewhat modern (for a typewriter) which cost $25 and was in perfect condition. i thought it cost too much so i didn't get it. plus it didn't look vintage, who the hell would want it? well, i just found out that a decent version of it can sell up to $450. that day i also saw an older typewriter that was seafoam green which i bought for $13. what a deal, i thought. turns out it's one of the most produced typewriter of its day and only fetches $50, at the most. lame-o. today i found a set of saucers which looked expensive. ooh, made in germany, must be worth something. i looked it up and the maker's name seemed important, until it said that the ones made from germany were the cheap reproductions and were pretty much worthless. soooo funny. oh well, they're for my own personal collection so aesthetically they're worth it to me. but if i ever find a gem, it would be nice to be able to sell it and make some spare change.
lesson of the day: i need an iphone for research purposes, hehe.
