"Whenever I get gloomy with the state of the world, I think about the arrivals gate at Heathrow Airport. General opinion's starting to make out that we live in a world of hatred and greed, but I don't see that. It seems to me that love is everywhere. Often it's not particularly dignified or newsworthy, but it's always there - fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, husbands and wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, old friends. When the planes hit the Twin Towers, as far as I know none of the phone calls from the people on board were messages of hate or revenge - they were all messages of love. If you look for it, I've got a sneaky feeling you'll find that love actually is all around."
I'm really beginning to think that love actually isn't all around. I don't know. I've been thinking about it all day, and right now love is something that is seemingly dissipating from the world as we know it. It started in Anthropology today. A class of 500, the professor asks how many people are married in the room, no one raises their hand...how many people are engaged, no one raises their hand...how many people are in love, once again, no one raises their hand. 500 people in the room and not one of them in love. It's not even so much being in love...it's love in general that I'm finding increasingly absent in the people around me. Maybe I'm not looking in the right places or maybe I'm oblivious to it because I'm too preoccupied with work and such. I can think of few examples where someone has actually done anything, not even particularly extraordinary, just anything that proved their love to someone else. It'd be nice to see more expressions of love more often, I guess. I'm sick of just seeing selfish or destructive actions. For some reason today I keep on picturing the old people dancing on the beach. There's something about old people and love. I think it makes me feel that love is a lasting thing. Far too often people who love each other hurt each other. And I'm still not even talking about being "in love" because I really can't form an opinion on something I know nothing about. Just love, in general....love is a thought provoking topic in and of itself without bringing in the factor of where is it?! With that said..I love you all and goodnight :)
