Oliver Peoples announces the release of a limited selection of the Vintage O’Malley style, recently uncovered by Founder and Creative Director, Larry Leight. The globally recognized O’Malley is one of nine iconic and distinctive frames that has become a staple in defining the Oliver Peoples brand.
In a New York Times article last summer (Frames That Play Hard to Get), staff writer Guy Trebay shared his personal experience and admiration for this now-elusive style. Featured in the Sunday Edition, the article reignited much attention by fellow aficionados of classic Oliver Peoples eyewear. Inspired by the response, Leight delved into his personal archive and private wholesale collection located at his flagship Oliver Peoples Boutique in West Hollywood.
Leight spent weeks searching through frames untouched since the late 1980’s, to uncover a small selection of one-of-a-kind treasures. During the hunt, he also discovered original vintage-tinted glass lenses in amazing colors manufactured in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, including rare shades of Sky Blue, Spearmint Green and Rose Brown.
The O’Malley has been a favored design by many who appreciate the classic simplicity of the circa 50’s retro, intellectual shape. The style remains one of the most identifiable pieces of the OP collection to this day. Now, for the first time since its retirement over a decade ago, the renowned frame will again be available for purchase in
eyewearconnection.com in very limited quantities.
