East side. Yo.

Spending time in Ithaca, NY has been very relaxing these past two weeks. Anna goes to class and work while I stay home, do the dishes, watch a little Montel on her only channel, and read. I've gone through most of my books already, so yesterday I ventured out on the town and stumbled on a cool little street fair. I guess when it isn't sweltering outside, everyone decides it's time for a party. The only downside was that it reaked of hippie...that BO/incence smell. At least there was some cool hippie music to distract me. While I was down there, I hit up a couple of used book stores trying to find some books I've been searching for (like The Moon is a Harsh Mistress), but to no avail. I did stumble across Godel-Escher-Bach for a very reasonable price, though. I've been meaning to read that book forever, and what better opportunity?
Tonight, we are leaving to Philly where Anna can't wait to show me some statue that looks like it has a boner. We will go bar hopping with a couple of her friends that live there, then in the morning we are heading into the big city where we will be spending the next night at the luxurious Waldorf Astoria, courtesy of my mom. I guess nothing I brought with me meets the dress code just to enter their lobby, so we had to go into Syracuse and I had to buy some shiny new designer threads that I have to wear around NYC.
I never get over how shocked everybody over here is when they hear I've never been to "the City." I guess if you live so close to it, you just assume everyone else you meet has been there too. Anyway, I'm just hoping that I'm not going to get mugged.
