Strong hands were wrapped around his neck, calloused thumbs pressing against his windpipe, rough fingertips with the inklings of nails digging into the sensitive flesh along his spinal cord. Angry blue eyes bore through glowing green as the hands gripped tighter and he made a choking sound.
“You traitor.” Marluxia hissed, pulling Axel closer before slamming him back against the wall by his neck. Axel coughed and tried to focus on the pink-haired man. He squinted until his focus fixed itself.
“Traitor? Me?” he attempted to joke; it only earned him another slam into the wall and more colored spots in his vision. “Okay…so they died. And?”
Marluxia glared at him. “You broke our agreement, Axel.”
“What, that I’d find probable cause before killing them so the boss man wouldn’t fire me? Isn’t that my business, Marluxia?”
“Not when you’re my subordinate.”
“Oh~ feisty, I see~”
This time Axel received a punch square in the jaw.
“Ow…when did you learn to throw a punch?”
Marluxia glared at him, teeth clenched. He was sick and tired of these games! Axel had everyone, his pawns, dangling on thin threads and he knew it. He could control them all, even Marluxia.
“You want to kill me, don’t you~?” Axel purred despite the hand grasping his neck and the throbbing pain in his jaw. “You want to see me dead, you want to stick your gun in my mouth and joyously pull the trigger~”
Never one to show his surprise, Marluxia held his narrowed stare. “Maybe I do, maybe I don’t. You are a valuable tool.”
But Axel wasn’t a tool, far from it. He was the master, the puppeteer, the director, the scriptwriter. He controlled it all.
Marluxia simply refused to accept it.
Axel chuckled cruelly. “Oh, yes, yes, that’s right~ playing by your rules, I forgot~”
He smirked when Marluxia’s jaw clenched. He had him.
Marluxia pulled his gun from his holster and shoved it in Axel’s flat stomach, digging into his flesh as he closed in. He didn’t say a word.
Axel’s initially confused expression morphed into a catty grin. “I see~ gonna shoot me in the stomach so I’ll suffer. Nice try, Marluxia, but there’s one problem with any and all plans of trying to kill me~”
Marluxia shifted. “And that would be…?”
Axel tipped his head at an upward, diagonal angle, motioning to the video camera that was attached to the brick wall. Marluxia froze.
“See, if you kill me now, they’ll know and they won’t hesitate to stick you in the chair. However,” Axel pushed himself from the wall, grabbed Marluxia’s shirt and whispered in his ear, “if you let me go, I will go destroy that tape and you won’t be known as the biggest traitor in this company’s history.”
He released Marluxia’s shirt, patted his chest, and flashed him a smile. “I assume you’ll want to keep your clean record, Marluxia. Goodbye.”
With that Axel left, and as he was walking away he heard a gunshot followed by buzzing electrical circuits and pieces of cheap plastic hitting the cement ground below. He turned his head, smirked, and continued on his way.
“You’re payin’ for that~”
