"I find that hard to believe..."
In his head, he heard the hissed response: "And why is that? Too afraid of me?"
While that very well may have been true, Ryou Bakura discovered that his mouth would dry when he tried to explain himself. The thought of living with the spirit in him forever...it brought on waves of hopelessness, as if he'd never know freedom again.
"You can't kill me."
The spirit needed him to survive. Without Ryou, he had nothing. The thought of ridding himself from the picture flitted through his mind. He couldn't do that. He'd find a way to make the spirit go away himself, the last thing he needed was to be remembered as a coward who ran from his problems and put others at risk for the same fate. Who said someone else couldn't find the Ring? It was entirely possible, and he couldn't let that happen.
"You're only immortal because I let you be."
Self-sacrifice was always his forte.
