So my step-brother was nominated to take the test to start gifted classes. That's pretty awesome. And it'd explain why he's been acting up so much in his classes since last February -- he's just bored. Of course, that's just conjecture until we get definitive proof that he's a prodigy.
Anyway, I think he's reading at a 5th grade level by now. +3 grades is a good deal, considering he's in the Valdosta city school system. Not that Lowndes was any better, but... come on.
I think I'm guininely happy for him. Hopefully he won't fuck it up.
In other news... first biology exam today. I should pull an A or a high B out of it. I started mixing my fungal- and plant-like protist phylums/divisions up, so we'll see on Tuesday how badly that hurt me. Not only did I have that test, but also my precalc professor said I didn't have to come to class today because of it (and it be excused). You know, the exam being held on a day that the class doesn't even meet is really hindering to one's schedule. So all in all, my day ended a good two hours early. Badass.
By the way, if any of you are wondering why ABAC places a huge concern on attendence, it's actually quite funny. A couple of years ago a student was a suspect in a murder case, but he said he had attended class that day. When the police asked for his attendence, the professor replied that she normally didn't maintain a roll. And that student was a prime suspect, apparently, and they couldn't confirm or disprove his alibi. So, because of that, ABAC now requires professors to call roll everyday. Plus, a student cannot miss more than 2x the amount of days that the class normally meets (so, for a 3-day/week class, you can miss 6 days and be fine), and one absence above that equals an automatic F in the class. It's crazy fun, I assure you.
So, uh. Out.
