Chapter 2 ☆ [Voice/Written]

Oct 18, 2011 18:54

[This particular entry starts off as nothing more than carefully written, easily legible text. After a few moments, the voiced part starts - it's the text being read out in a calm, friendly voice, for any who might have trouble reading what's written.]

I was wondering... How many of you have dealt with the inability to remember something important ( Read more... )

I have.

Why?

It's just something we had to deal with several times in my world. I was wondering if anyone else had to deal with something similar in the past. [That's the main reason he's asking, really. Back home, they didn't have a way to deal with people forgetting something important, but it's possible that he might be able to discover one here. Sure, there's no guarantee that he'll remember once he returns home, but... it's worth a try, isn't it?]

You often forget things?

No, my memory's fine. [Mostly.] But we met a lot of people who forgot something important.

[And they never managed to figure out who was responsible for that in their world, though he has his own suspicions - which he's pretty certain about by now, thanks to something he found out in this place.]

Then what is the purpose of your question?

Someone who had to deal with being unable to remember something before might know what to do about it. If one of the people we met in my world shows up here, it's possible that their memories could be restored. [There's no guarantee that their memory would stay that way when they return, but it's worth a try. And alternatively, there's always the chance that he'll remember how to do something about that issue when he returns - even if it's a slim chance.]

Doubtful, if it's something unique to your world of origin.

It's true that if it's unique to my world, then this might not help at all. But as long as there's still a chance it could work, it wouldn't hurt to try. [That's his viewpoint on this particular matter, at least.]

You're not asking for solutions, though. You're simply asking if others have experienced something similar.

Asking for solutions isn't the only way to find them. People dealing with a similar situation can try to find a way to solve it together, too. [Which could even help some of the residents - at least, those who are willing to share details of their situation.]

If there are people who already found a solution, they can still mention them if they want to. [Like Pao-lin did, for example. Certainly, asking outright would likely be faster, but... It also limits the other way to find a solution that he mentioned somewhat.]
