[Leonhardt isn't the only one at the battle dome today. Joshua stopped by a little while ago as well, though not for the sake of venting about the situation so much as simply for training. Right now, though, he's taking a moment to rest up, lingering in the viewing area.
...He wasn't exactly expecting to see a familiar face present here as well, though. As his luck would have it, Joshua's in the viewing area a little while after Leonhardt starts his first scenario. Needless to say, that manages to catch the boy's attention - and not just because it's the lieutenant fighting.
That blue-haired man... he looks just like the professor. The resemblance is downright alarming, even. But it couldn't be... right?
...He's just... going to keep watching from the viewing area for a while. This is an awfully strange sight, to say the least.]
[And even stranger because the "professor" is showing he's quite capable of fighting. Even without his sword though, Leonhardt is doing perfectly fine against him and it is very obvious that whoever the man is, Leonhardt definitely has issue with him.
Unfortunately the "professor" teleports a distance away after that blow to the face and Leonhardt has to quickly bridge the distance again.
But really, quite peculiar for a swordsman to not be using his sword right now, right?]
[Action]eyesofremorseSeptember 10 2011, 00:59:52 UTC
[Right. He knows that the lieutenant's a capable swordsman - it's odd to see him fighting without it. But he's clearly holding his own just fine despite that handicap... it's almost a little terrifying, really.
Not that the professor's doing particularly badly, either, assuming it really is him. It's odd to see someone like him actually doing fine in a fight... but if Joshua's right about his identity, then why would Leonhardt choose him as his opponent for a simulation? It feels as if there's something he's missing here.
[And then the "professor" teleports away again after Leonhardt landed another blow to the face. He seems really obsessed especially with punching the man in the face too. He may not be as skilled as Zane, but really he's still doing pretty well.
He quickly casts Earth Guard Mk 2 and then goes after the man again. He's attacked with some magic but Earth Guard effectively guards against it. He goes after the blue-haired man again and knocks him down this time.
And of course Leonhardt is going to take advantage of this opening. And it is likely almost scary how much he seems to actually be almost enjoying this.]
[Action]eyesofremorseSeptember 10 2011, 01:35:57 UTC
["Scary" is one way to put it. With how Leonhardt's handling this fight, it almost seems as if this entire battle were something personal for him, even if it's just a simulation. But... why? It just seems... strange.
...then again, the fact that the professor is apparently capable of fighting is strange, too. He did have his suspicions about him, but he still didn't strike him as much of a combatant... though him using magic makes sense, at least.
He's... just going to keep watching this for a little while longer. As strange as this is, it definitely can't hurt to use the chance to see just what the lieutenant is capable of on his own.]
[And while Leonhardt has the "professor" on the ground he then proceeds to beat the man some more.
And then he takes out Kernviter and proceeds to brutally slaughter the man. It may only be a simulation, but it still is quite satisfying to be able to do something he has wanted to do for some time. It is very obvious that Leonhardt knows exactly where to hit to drag it out just enough to ensure the man suffers before being defeated.
And then the simulation is over and he comes out with a very satisfied look on his face. That definitely did help a lot. Though it doesn't solve the problems that exist, it was a satisfaction he very much needed.]
[Action]eyesofremorseSeptember 10 2011, 02:14:59 UTC
[... ... ...Well. If he needed any further confirmation that this seemed to be something personal... that was probably all the confirmation he really needed. Yikes.
Still... this is strange. Why would the lieutenant have so much of a problem with the professor that he would do something like that, even if that was just a simulation? If his own suspicions back when they were still in their own world was right, then... this doesn't really make much sense. He's missing something important, isn't he?
...Nothing to do but to ask, he supposes. With that in mind, he'll slowly be heading back from the viewing area to the center area of the battle dome - with emphasis on slowly. He needs a moment to figure out how he's even going to bring this up - and admittedly, he's feeling a bit more hesitant about this than he normally would thanks to what he just saw. Call it being cautious, if you will.]
[He wouldn't blame someone for hesitating to approach him after that. He did let his anger get the best of him, but it was very much needed to ensure he could remain calm in this situation.
But Joshua has no need to worry that he's going to leave. He's currently working on selecting another scenario and trying to find a good Archaism to fight. Most of the ones in the Aureole were quite weak but with how this place is, perhaps there are stronger ones they have not yet found. Or perhaps other worlds have similar creatures that he would find to be worthy opponents.]
[Action]eyesofremorseSeptember 10 2011, 17:14:01 UTC
[Hesitating won't do much good, though, so not long after getting back to the center area, he'll approach Leonhardt. He's still a little bit unsure about what to say, but... he'll start of simple for now.]
...Excuse me. [That is, by trying to actually get the lieutenant's attention first. The actual inquiry can wait a moment; it wouldn't do any good to simply ask about something if Leonhardt isn't even listening to him, after all.]
[Well at least unlike last time they spoke, Leonhardt is paying far more attention and notices the presence before Joshua even speaks.
He's still looking through for something to fight, but he does hear the inquiry. He has a feeling he knows what the question will be. At this point Joshua would have no clue about the horrible things Weissmann has done to him, to both of them really. The man was still using his alias as Professor Alba.
And he thought he had checked the area before starting that simulation. It would appear Joshua must have arrived during it. At least he has some idea how to answer that inquiry. And he doesn't even look back for now.]
[Action]eyesofremorseSeptember 10 2011, 17:48:13 UTC
[Ah, he's listening. All right, that's the first step done, then... On to the next one. Asking immediately would likely seem rude, so he'll bring up something else first, smiling as he does - though it's just a little forced this time. He's admittedly still a bit uneasy.]
That battle just now was pretty impressive. I didn't know you were that capable even without a weapon. [He knew that the lieutenant was very strong, but it still says something when he's able to fare this well against an opponent - let alone one capable of teleporting - without even using a weapon for a large portion of the fight.]
It is merely because my opponent was a weak coward. I would definitely not stand a chance against one like Zane Vathek, A-Ranked bracer, without a weapon. [As always, can't take a compliment at all. But he knows he can deal well enough without a weapon, it is just a very immense handicap, especially if his opponent is armed with a blade.]

[ ... ]
If you don't mind me asking... Who was that man you were fighting? [With how much he looked like the professor, it's hard to believe that would be a mere coincidence. Still, it's certainly possible, so... he might as well ask, just to be safe.]
[And then there is of course the fact that he knows Zane's ranking too. But then that isn't much of a surprise with him knowing Cassius' and Scherazard's.]
A weak coward of a magician is all you need to know. If you continue getting involved where you should not I have no doubts you will meet him soon, if you haven't already.
[And it's a good thing he's still not looking at Joshua directly, because otherwise the sudden fire in his eyes would be evident. Definitely has no liking for the man who is his superior.]
[Action]eyesofremorseSeptember 10 2011, 18:43:57 UTC
[That too, but he isn't too surprised by that. He is part of the Intelligence Division, so it's not too strange that he would try to find out about that sort of thing. ...Besides, it's not too unusual to gather as much information as possible about an opponent.
And while that answer wasn't as informative as he'd hoped... there's still one thing that caught the boy's attention.]

No, probably not. But I don't think most people are a match for Zane without a weapon. [That comparison almost seems a little unfair to him, really.]
