I was at the supermarket the other day, walking down the cosmetics isle and happened across the Wet N Wild display noticing that a number of their items were reduced. The cream liner has been something I've been eying for a while now but since I'm a penny pincher I wasn't going to spend $3.99 since I have enough makeup. Another reason preventing me was fear that the product would be lackluster. I think I spent less than $3 on the cream liner.
I unfortunately threw away the packaging but here are some pictures of the product. The cream liner comes in a clear container and a stiff angle brush. The packaging is clear plastic with a dome shape. I find that this sort of shape distorts the view of how much product you are actually getting. Upon opening it I noticed that the product was a little more than half a centimeter from the lip of the container.
I didn't care for the angle brush and prefer to apply my liners with a liner brush(in this case a really thin bristled paintbrush). At first glance the product looks a bit dry and almost matte on the surface but after swiping it it had a creamy texture.
I made a few swatches on the back of my hand. The cream is very pigmented and does not require to much product or pressure to make a mark. I experimented with the staying power. I made the initial mark then waited a minute and applied a second line. I quickly smudged the lines with my finger. I drew another line and waited two minutes. I ran my finger across the whole area. The small smudges made were where the most product was concentrated.
Here are a few picture of my lined eyes before and after
The below pictures were taken 8 hours later. While there is some loss in pigment the liner does not seem to budge even with some eye greasiness. A recommendation that I would make is that lashes are curled before application to avoid smudging.
The liner on the back of my hand has held up as well and even lasted after I washed the dishes and scrubbed my hand twice. The packaging doesn't say if the liner is waterproof or not but a waterproof makeup remover would be a good solution since aggressive scrubbing of the eye area isn't recommended.
I really like this product and I was pleasantly surprised. In the past I've purchased a "gel" liner from a dollar store and it was very greasy and would not stay put and was a poor choice all around. The colors available in this product are black, purple, and brown. I'm curious how this compares to other drug store brands like L'Oreal HIP and Maybelline as well as higher end brands like MAC.
