A look I want to attempt, with a bit of help + sephora haul!

Apr 30, 2009 15:54

Okay so I convinced my mom to take me to Sephora last night so we could 'look'. And 500 bucks later we came out, lol. I got a consulation and some fun stuff I want opinions on for color combos since I have the confidence of a baby chicken right now. The look under the cut is one that the girl at Sephora did on me. She only used TWO eye colors and I' ( Read more... )

The colors and your blending look very nice, but the entire effect of the look could be improved by shaping your eyebrows. They're really thick, and a bit spread out on your face.

agreed, they seem to have a nice natural arch and are just overgrown. Mine would look like this if I let them grow out for about 6 months :P get 'em waxed and invest in some tweezers! You'd be amazed at the difference.
I have the UD bamboo box, I use it almost every day!

Until you mentioned the arch and the overgrowness and I went back to look I didn't realize how bad they kinda look. ICK.
No more brooke shields for me.

as I said I plan to have them done soon. (hopefully next week) Anyone know how much it usually costs so I know about how much to be prepped for?

To be quite honest, while the look is just a-fucking-dorable, you can't get much easier than that. I know you wanted an easier way to do it, but two colors is very, very basic.

If you're new to eyeshadow just play around A LOT and watch tutorials on YouTube. You'll just keep getting better and better the more you play with colors.

Oh, and a BIG NO on wearing teal eyeshadow with your teal shirt. Just way too matchy matchy.

yeah I wore Uzi and Kiddie pool from the bamboo palette and changed to a grey shirt with shirts. It looked alot better, AND I was just going to visit someone in the hospital so I didn't need to look like I had pre-planned everything six monthes in advanced, lol.

Pretty colors ( I LOVE UD makeup!), but I agree with the brows, and no, don't use any teal. You said so yourself that you are trying to gain confidence with your makeup, so try to adjust with the bare minimum you have on now. Adding more and more won't make you confident. Get used to using the basics, then get more daring as you gain more confidence. And really, other than trial and error, there really isn't an easy way to learn how to apply. Have fun with it and be sure to post it for us! ♥

I ended up, as I said before going with kiddie pool (very light) and uzi and it looked pretty good in my opinion. The thing about the purple look I find difficult is the using of the angled brush with the wet E/S as a liner, I have a slightly shakey hand is why.

The base that was used was UDPP but I think it was used too lightly because I have darkish lids (blah)

i have a kat von d palette. what do you think of the beethoven one so far? i have ludwig. i watched a few tutorials and have done *a few* brown/green smoky eyes. no real opinion yet from me. the brushes suck, that's a fact but as far as pigment, coloring, creasing?

I'll let you know what I think as soon as I give it a proper test drive. My mom has tried all of her duo's (Which were the black, blue, and goldish color) and she liked them all but I personally think the blue came off kinda lightish on her not as dramatic as I wish it had.

okay so I just tried three of the colors from the beethoven palette (Sinner, rad purple, and galleono?) and here's what I think. Its very powder and the rad purple actually came off way darker than I thought it would and looked black on me. I loved the other two colors though. Would I recommend this? Well if you like the ludwig...maybe but if you haven't tried Kat Von D and want to try something this is not a good experience for starting out. On the other hand the duo eyeshadows are very nice.
