My obligatory one post in 6 months entry...

Jun 29, 2008 22:25

IT HAS BEEN FOREVER! I am just soooo lazy I never post. But this is a big fat update. Lots and lots of pics, so not for the dial up! A few looks, a mini haul and birthday photos! All behind the cut so click away :)

There was a no make-up before and after shot post the other week but I didn't post mine. I'll include a before shot in this post though...brace yourselves!

BEFORE

aaaahhhh!!!

Okay..this next lot is a whole bunch of photos I've taken of some looks I never got round to posting.

[LOOK 1]

1.1 I didn't wear this out, I just did this for fun one night while I stayed in. I never do lips this dark either. It was some lip gloss over some lipliner and copper sparkle pigment...
The eyes are pretty bad too I was playing with copper sparkle which I hadn't touched in ages.

1.2 Ew I hate the liner I did here

1.3

1.4 I think I look older in darker lips!

[LOOK 2]

2.1 This is a light smokey number I did. I usually do really dark smokeys so I thought I'd do a nice soft grey with the smoke signals quad a wee bit of vapour in there for a blueish sort of tinge (that doesn't really show up but oh well)

2.2

2.3

2.4

[LOOK 3]

3.1 I looove this combo. By the looks of it I think I mostly used shroom, terre a terre, carbon and blue brown pig on the lid then used violet pig on the loer lashline and inner corners.

3.2 Different lighting on this one. See the uneven eyelids? It gives me so much grief!

3.3

3.4

3.5

3.6 Lots of pics of this look I loved it!

3.7 ew gross pic but good mu view

[LOOK 4]

4.1 I think this I used pretty much the same thing as Look 3 but less shroom and more from the smoke signals quad. Then instead of violet pig I used aqualine liquidlast with parrot on top.

4.2 I remember taking pics for this look late at night after work so everythings a bit shiny and greasy

4.3 I love doing the aqualine and parrot combo! Everytime I do the blue inner corner I get the most compliments people love the little bright pop.

4.4

4.5 And one with my hair pulled back, my filled in brows had worn off!

So it was my birthday recently (10th of June to be exact!). I turned 21 and spent an entire week celebrating it was great. Before my birthday week I bought myself some new make-up just to treat myself. Not that much though because I was saving up to pay for my party but enough to do a wee mini-haul section on.

Antiqued (been meaning to get a nice chocolately brown for a while), Smashbox's Smashing boutique, Smashbox's Smashing Golden/Eggplant duo

UDPP! I live outside of the states so it was such a mission for me to get a hold of this! My boyfriends sister just moved to NZ to study so I promptly bought a tube using my boyfriends american credit card, sent it to her american address and she carried it all the way here for me :)
Vial of Pink Bronze pigment, Estee Lauder lipstick I got for free after someone sent me the wrong product. Yay for free stuff.

oh yeah and after finally get a hold of the UDPP...its so overrated! I mean its good, I'll use it and I like it but its not AMAZING :/ I used shadesticks and other bases for ages and they worked just as well! Definitely NOT my holy grail but its still pretty good I guess.

haha and one last thing about UDPP...the first time my boyfriend saw it he picked it up, gave me a puzzled look and asked "is this some sort of kinky sex device you're into?". Haha!!!

18 brushes for 6bucks!!!! The silver ones are part of the 18pc set. They're reeeaally cheap, crappy and synthetic but this means they are perfect for applying wet shadows, crisp lines and I can take these travelling without fear of losing my nicer more pricey brushes.

I got 9 loose eyeshadow samples for only $6! These are from a local company called Immersion Cosmetics. They're a mineral make-up company and this is my first experience with minerals so I think 9 samples for $6 is a pretty good deal.

In the first column the colours are Dune, Ocean Wave, Sheerwood green.
The second column are Cherry, Naturally Oak and Siesta

I've decided I'm not a huge fan of mineral shadows, they won't be an everyday make-up for me but I've discoverred their sheerness and fineness are great as highlights and blending into regular shadows.

The last three of the samples which are in Blackcurrant, Choco Delight and Licorice (a lovely matte black). They all came in little baggies which are so annoying so I transferred them all to my own little pots.

And lastly I got this dumb "mac" blush!!! I was so annoyed at myself for getting it. I got it off a local trading site similar to ebay but mostly exclusive to NZ. I KNEW it was a fake but I didn't really click...I am really wary when I buy off ebay but fakes in NZ aren't that common so I just brushed the cheap price tag off. When I received it before I even opened the package I could FEEL through the packing it was fake. I hadn't even opened it and I was like DAMMIT! Check out the difference next to my Peaches blush!

The pot is way too big, different texture and cheap black plastic. The blush itself is so crappy and cheap and is raised instead of flat.
I emailed the girl who sent it to me and told her about it and left negative feedback. I had been emailing her back and forth and it turned out she had no idea. Shes not familiar with MAC at all, she had bought it off the same trading site herself and never opened it because she didn't like the colour so she resold it. She was shocked to find she had sold me a fake product. I know shes telling the truth because the initial plan was for me to meet up with her and have her give it to me in person, anyone knowingly selling fakes wouldn't agree to meet up in person!

ugh
Oh well! Learn from your mistakes.

Onward to birthday pictures!

Okay, so no close ups of make-up, I was in a rush and didn't have time to take close ups of any make-up in the following looks.

From the weekend of my birthday drinks...

I did a dark smokey eye. Nothing special! (These pics aren't great quality they were taken on a disposable cam)

Pictures from my 21st dinner...

So I did a coppery bronzey sort of look with gold accents. Used a lot of the red side of Mi Lady, Antiqued and Golden Lemon. I love the eyeshadow but I don't think it matches my red dress very much. I should have just done my good old trusty smokey eye but I wanted to do something different. I was so rushed and didn't have time to think!

Me and my love!

My massive CAKE!!!! It took a week for my family and I to finish it even after giving most of it away.

My younger brother

My gorgeous lil sis who is just starting to dabble into make-up...how cute!

My mum and dad and a full view of my dress! I looooove it...I got it for 50 bucks at a second hand vintage store in melbourne called "Ruby Red Dress".

My face was ON THE CAKE! I put that icing panel in my freezer so I can keep it forever and ever haha

and last but not least....

Wahoooo! My friends know me too well.

Hope you all enjoyed my lovelies. This post took FOREVER!

xoxo
