This is a little story told to me once...
It seemed to carry a lot of value for myself, so I decided to remember
and type it up in order to pass it on to everyone who read my journal.
Have fun. :)
The Stone Cutter
The was once a stonecutter. On one hot summer day, he was told to go to
a rich man's house with 2 really heavy stones. It took him forever to
get the stones to the rich man's house and the stonecutter was hot and
exhausted by the time he got to the rich man's house. The stonecutter
then proceeded to step into the rich man's house. Inside, he found it
filled with fans, and it was very cool inside that house. Upon seeing
the house, he wished he was a rich man. The spirit of the mountains
heard his wish and granted it. The stonecutter suddenly found himself
to be in a house with fans just like the other rich man. But one day,
he saw the king pass him with his servants fanning him. The man
thought, the king is cooler than I am under that tent and faned by
servants. So, he man wished he was the king. Again, the spirit of the
mountain answered him, and all off the sudden he found himself to be
the king. But even the king couldn't escape the heat of the sun as the
summer days grew hotter and warmer. So, the man wanted to be the root
of the heat, the one that controls all. So, the man wished he was the
sun. His wish was granted. So, he was having fun giving others a
terrible time with all the power he had in destroying and giving life.
But, one day, the clouds covered his rays. He found that something was
even stronger than him. So he wished he was the clouds. His wish was
granted and he became the clouds. He loved pouring all the rain and
storms down on the world, and was happy for awhile. Until one day, he
found a big stone on the cliff of a mountain. The stone withstood all
of the cloud's attacks on it. The man thought, I wish i was the stone,
it is stronger than even the clouds. After a while, he had lots of fun
being on the cliff and being unmovable. Until finally, he looked down
one day and saw a stonecutter at the bottom of the cliff cutting
stones. He saw that something was even greater than the rock. Finally,
He wished that he was a stonecutter. And he became one again.
Moral:
Don't waste your time trying to be who you are not.
Rather, try to be who you really are.
