In the shower this evening I couldn't decide whether I wanted to be hot or cold, because, while the chill wet sent goose flesh across my shoulders, even tepid water seemed scalding to my sunburned feet. Throughout my life, I've been warned of the risk of sunburned feet; now I pay for my skepticism! I was careful to cover all the rest of me, but the splotchy tops of my poor feet glow incongruously red.
The sun is steadily darkening my arms, although my stomach remains white. This juxtaposition always reminds me of opposing chess pieces.
